I made an absolutely stupid mistake at work earlier this week that created a bit of a mess. I work in IT. Whenever there is any outage, we're expected to answer numerous questions. What happened? Why did it happen? Did someone do something to cause it? Were we alerted fast enough? How will we prevent it in the future? It's nauseating.
Well, I caused it because I haven't been feeling well and my tinnitus has been worse over the past few weeks than normal. In my weakened state, I made an uncharacteristically bad boo boo.
So, I asked my manager to review my initial report before sending it the people who want answers.
When we were both satisfied with what I'd written, he told me "Don't send it now. Wait until you're at home."
I work from home every day. I've been in the office only 2 or 3 times in the past 5 years.
I live in the Salt Lake area and my boss lives in the Midwest. It caught me off guard. Apparently, he thinks I drive into an office for work.
