(Johnson) this year. “But Hall is in the team this year!” Yes, I know….but he isn’t the same Hall as last year when he knew he was the floor general.
I’m not saying Hall is neutered—Demon is an amazing talent, so Hall is only kind of leading…and kind of not leading. He and Demin are really struggling to see who is the true floor general (PG).
I love Demin’s game, but he doesn’t have the personality of a floor general (yet). I think he will be awesome in the NBA. It seems as if Hall is giving Demin the reigns (5* recruit, future lottery pick, etc.), but Demin doesn’t have that moxie to take the reins. I understand he wants to be a great teammate, not ruffle feathers of those that have put in their dues within the program, and not come across as selfish and/or “all about me” kind of guy, but he needs to get selfish so they team can reach it’s potential (the irony of that statement isn’t missing me).
I would love to see Catchings play the role Jax played last year—including coming off the bench (there’s only one ball, and Saunders seems to be the focus for scoring within the first unit). I think he would thrive knowing he is the focal point of the offense, not just a cog in the offensive scheme.
Switching Knell as the starter gives this year’s team the presence Johnson had on the team last year. Doesn’t need plays drawn up for him, but gets shots off (and making a lot this year) within the offensive system.
