that is hyper focused on any mistake made by BYU, ready to pounce and describe how bad BYU makes the church look. Back in the days of Letters to the Editor, an ALUF is the kind of person that would write one beginning with: “As an active member of the LDS faith I am appalled that [person associated with BYU] would [do something wrong]. It puts the church in a bad light . . .”

And then, while pretending to safeguard the reputation of the church, the same ALUF would do everything in his power to publicize and spread the bad news.

So it’s more than just active LDS folk that are Utah fans. At least in its CB origins.
