I always rinse the dishes before loading. Everything that goes in the dishwasher has to go out through the drain hose. Or get stuck in it.

Fortunately our dishwasher has a filter at the bottom to keep that stuff out. Might be time to upgrade your dishwasher.

Same, except my 1970s oven just dies and had to replace that, so now the date

This. I check the filter regularly. So, fortunately, it doesn’t stay in the dishwasher (and the line isn’t clogged).
