The offense wasnt efficient, they were largelt opportunistic based on a lot they had nothing to do with . They took the short fields given by a defense that lead the nation in picks, they had a kicker who rarely missed and had good range. You get more points per drive with a good kicker but that has little to do with the O. Yes you get credit for being opportunistic, but basically the team lost the games the games that the D didnt create turnovers(Kansas) or didnt didn t take advantage of those opps. Even the OSU game where the D got destroyed,14.of our points came off of 2 drives that totaled 45 yds. Thats how these numbers are created. The KSU game the pts per play and per drive were astronomical. How much of that had to do with the O? Its not that simple
While those stats you cite are important until you deep dive as to the why you have an O top 20 in pts but middle in yds and at the very bottom in 3rd downs. This O more than most benefited a ton in your stats from the other 2 facets of the team
