In the broadcast they mentioned that Zariel races ALOT. For the last two months she has basically raced in a championship level race every weekend, so a College XC schedule might actually be a break for her - plus while Jane has been training at altitude her whole life Zariel never has, so it will be interesting to see how she adjusts. Given all that I still think the number 7 spot is probably her ceiling as a freshman. I think she compares favorably to Nelah Roberts and would expect a similar XC season.
