A couple lessons. Maybe one lesson with a good instructor.
I think everyone could play in the NHL if they wanted to. There's just no demand because the outfits aren't very flattering.

Time
How long would it take to learn to skate at an NHL level?

4-6 months, on the ice 2-3 hours a day. Including weekends

Thanks. Not sure I have the time for that unfortunately.

You don’t even need to know how to skate well. You should start with an open tryout for a minor league team.

Not going to waste my time with the minors.

That makes sense. Buffalo Sabers probably offer you a max contract right now.

Do you sell paint and were you almost on the PGA tour? If so 3 months max

Not sure but check out The Cutting Edge (1992) for motivation. Not exactly the same situation but it feels similar.

Confirmed: I could be out there if it wasn’t for my (lack of) skating ability.

Dude. You would get body checked into oblivion... Hockey players are great skaters because most of them start very young

Some of these guys are so small. I think it would be the opposite (if I could skate).

Unless you grew up skating, you’ll probably never get to that level
