Sometimes pretty remarkable things pop up
My daughter went through a very rough patch many years ago and was back at home trying to get her life back on track. I was at church one Sunday attending to a lot of importantish details when I felt mildly prompted (I have a thick skull) to run home and see her. I did and found her bored and uninterested in talking so I awkwardly left and went back to church thinking, "Nice job, dad, you blew it again."

She eventually got sober and ultimately got entirely back on the right track and is now living a fantastic life with a great husband and five wonderful kids. She openly shares her experience with others trying to escape their addictions. Many years later I stumbled onto an old Facebook post talking about the Sunday when her dad awkwardly came home in the middle of church to check on her. She was surly but still touched because she knew he was so busy there. She got up and dumped the whisky bottle hidden in her room--and never drank again (that's the abbreviated/easy version of a long/difficult--but ultimately glorious--story.)

I never knew the details until I happened upon it many years later.
