Culturally, it is weird to have too large an age gap. If someone acts outside of
social norms than they are often viewed as gross or creepy. So, him dating someone that young is mostly gross because of his willingness to go so far outside the bounds of what is considered socially acceptable.

There are a number of reasons why it is not considered socially acceptable. For example, people generally believe relationships should be based on love. These types of relationships are usually based on something less respected than love: money, physical attractiveness, etc. Love develops through real conversation and genuine interest in one another's lives. I would have to date a lady in her 90's to hit this same age gap, and it seems hard to believe I would find interesting conversations and shared experiences that would develop a real bond between me and her.

The older I get, the younger college students look and seem. They are just barely not kids. They are immature. They haven't even fully developed mentally. They lack wisdom. If I weren't married, I'm sure I would feel they were too young to date. It wouldn't feel right. It would be difficult to connect with them on anything other than a physical basis. That seems wrong.

Do you have a daughter? Your 19 year old daughter brings home a boyfriend for christmas to "meet the parents," if he were 70 years old vs 22 years old, it give you some ideas as to what he values, what his purpose in relationships are, it may somewhat inform you opinion of him differently than it would otherwise. We can only speak in generalities, but most people in culture would be hesitant in believing that their 19 year old daughter was making a wise decision.

It is clear you don't agree, so we will just have to agree to disagree.
