After listening to postgame stuff, the biggest adjustments KY is making:
(and will make)

- Defensive Gameplan and Purposely Giving Up Threes - KY and multiple players said that, essentially, you can't take everything away on offense. In this game the focus was stopping their fast break by packing the paint and living with certain guys taking 3s. That was their gameplan. This is in line with things KY said in Robbie McCombs preview piece about how he believes you can take away the paint and leave guys more open on the perimeter in college than the NBA. This'll be a learning curve for him (he said as much tonight), and for the fans. But he believes the percentages are in his favor if you let some (not all) college guys bomb from 3. Sometimes, of course, the open threes we're seeing are the result of a poor rotation, other times it's basically on purpose.

- On-Ball vs. Off-Ball Movement - He also said the focus tonight was on more off-ball movement. In the NBA there's a TON of on-ball actions and a lot of standing by other guys, I think you'll see more of a shift to motion concepts and off-ball movement as the season goes on. He's tweaking and learning with each game what will work in the college game and what won't. In the NBA the elite players are SO skilled that they can get to the basketball, handle on-ball pressure, etc. anytime they want. It's not the case in the college game.

- Playing Rotation - Steve Cleveland talked about this on the radio...basically that in the NBA teams will play 10-11 guys all year and then shorten the rotation in the playoffs. He thinks KY is trying to play with too many guys in the rotation and he will have to go to a standard 8-9 man rotation as the year goes on. College games are 8 minutes shorter, there are fewer of them, every game means more, so you need your best guys on the floor at all times.

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how KY is adjusting as his time at BYU goes on.
