I think it is jealousy*. I always root for BSU against the 'power' conferences.
They were one of the few teams that scheduled BYU during independence. They have been successful without all the fundage.
Many of their fans can be annoying.
*BSU gets the benefit of a doubt more than BYU did from 1990 on. BSU has also been able to be consistently good for longer. And BSU has a winning record against BYU.
