The law does not impact all PBMs, just those owned by an insurance company. There is a seeming conflict when your entire medical experience is controlled by the same group: doctors, hospitals, insurance, pharmacy... all owned. controlled by the same company. We have had far more issues with pharmacies/ PBMs owned by the insurance provider than independent pharmacies. PBMs owned by insurance carriers are much more likely to delay, add layers of hoops, randomly coordinate with the insurance provider to reject requests... We have not had similar issues with independent PBMs.
