Do some research and actually listen to what AJ and his pops are saying.
This has more to do with KY - and BYU being an NBA incubator.
If Pope had the same NIL money at BYU- would we be in the running for AJ? No way.
Would we be in the running for some other athletes and better ones? Maybe.
The appeal to AJ - comes from KY's ties to the NBA, his staff that has NBA ties, his strength & conditioning coach coming from the NBA, a nutritionist coming from the NBA, an analytics guy that just came from the NBA, the kid's idol Kevin Durant that highly recommended KY, phone calls with Booker/CP3 that highly recommend KY, etc.
All of these things align with the kids goals to NOT just go to the NBA, he knows he's going, he's choosing a program that is going to best prepare him for the NBA.
Why isn't this getting the attention it deserves?
If you listened to the podcast with SAS, even his parents kept the NIL$ situation from him - and told him to select the program without NIL in mind. He did...and THEN his parents let him know what the NIL would be.
Too much lazy "journalism" out there - the story/truth is there people including Robbie's great coverage...why not report it. It's obviously far easier to discount BYU from afar and just run with the NIL narrative which is really short sighted.
