Not sure we fully appreciate what Jay Hill did this year
Let’s all rewind to late 2022 when Kalani Sitake hired Jay Hill as the new DC…
He was inheriting a total train wreck from Ilaisa Tuiaki. Against a schedule that featured 8 G5 opponents, BYU’s defense finished that season rated #94 in total defense, #97 in points allowed, #98 in run defense, and #124 in turnovers created. We all remember watching our front 7 get mauled in the run game by G5 teams. It was painful to watch.
Fast forward to 2024. In just his second season as BYU’s DC he produced the best defense in the Big 12: #1 in the conference in points allowed, yards allowed, and turnovers created.
Absolutely INCREDIBLE what’s he’s done in such a short time. Whatever we’re paying this man, it ain’t enough:
