Something that has gotten lost in all the CFP hoopla is how unbalanced schedules
are in college football. Most SEC and Big Ten team play no more than 5 road games. Many play only 4. Georgia and Ohio State played 8 homes games and 4 road games this year. That’s wild. Several Big Ten and SEC teams played 7 home games, four road, and one neutral. Many played 7 home and 5 road. That is such a massive advantage, and the CFP committee never once discussed this, and you never hear national pundits discuss it either.

In college basketball, home, road, and neutral games are weighted differently. The same should be true in college football. But more importantly all teams should be playing the same number of home games. All conferences should play 8 or 10 conference games, and non-conference games should be split evenly home and away. Until there is more balanced scheduling, we won’t have any semblance of fairness in college football.
