QB talent. Retzlaff is pretty alright - not terrible and not great but not going to put a team on his back and win you a game or two. Compared to last year Retzlaff is loads better, but we all remember how poor the QB play was and I think that’s a credit to Arod and Retzlaff on how much they improved - bc that was truly some sorry QB play last year. The man knows how to help a QB improve, but at this point, things that are what they are and aren’t going to get better if they haven’t by now like accuracy, sidearm motion, red zone ball security, etc. But if he had recruited better QB talent to begin with I think the QB play would just be that much better. Zach and Jaren were great and I think Arod had a lot to do with that but obviously more raw talent to begin with.
As a side note, i think a lot of the other issues with the offense stem from having an average QB. We start noticing every little thing that’s not perfect-clock management, subs, throwing behind the chains on 3rd- you know why? Bc we don’t have an eraser like Zach or Jaren that can just go make a couple great plays and make all those other issues not matter. Their football IQ and physical ability was top shelf and could take over a game by themselves, not so much with our current QB
