I’ve actually wondered how Jazz-loving ute fans reconcile Ryan’s financial
support of BYU athletics and their Jazz fandom with their hatred of BYU.
And his NIL support of BYU seems like a risky business strategy for Ryan Smith, given that the ute fanbase seems to be mostly made up of Jazz fans, whereas the BYU fanbase seems to largely (or mostly, maybe) be fans of other NBA teams. I think there are a lot more ute/Jazz fans than there are BYU/Jazz fans.
And I guess the same thing applies to Utah Hockey Club fans now.
I guess it’s a bit like ALUFs reconciling their hatred of BYU with their support of BYU’s sponsoring organization. 🤷🏻
