Took a peak at the Utah game...the Utes lost because of arrogance...
Early in that game Utah was moving the ball extremely well and with a lot of confidence, but they had two early 4th and short plays where they chose to go for it instead of just take the points with chip shot FGs. The first was on their first drive and instead of going up 3-0 they went for it and turned the ball over on downs at the 10 (AZ responded and drove down the field to score a 47 yard FG). The next drive Utah takes it all the way down the field and arrives at a 4th and goal at the 2 yard line. Rather than take a chip shot to even it up, they go for it again and turn it over again on downs when a pass is batted down. AZ goes 3 and out and punts and then Utah gets one first down and finally takes the points making it 3-3. If they had not been greedy and arrogant thinking they could easily get 2-3 yards on AZ's defense, Utah would have been up 9-3 at that point and, even after AZ's TD later in the first half they'd have gone into halftime essentially tied.

KWs message at halftime was that they should have had 21 more points, when they really should have had 6 more and arrogant coaching cost them those points. Again, no respect for the opponent. From that point on, you could tell AZ was in Utah's head the rest of the game. The Utah players were not enjoying the game and instead had their heads down like they somehow deserved to be winning and were getting cheated. AZ players were just the opposite with a ton of excitement and they continued to play decent and take what the Utah D gave them on offense. The game was fairly close and Arizona is not a bad team so it was a little weird to see Utah players playing so frustrated all game instead of just enjoying the moment and playing their best. Also, the refs were letting the DBs play physical and it looked like Arizona took a page out of Utah's playbook by basically holding the Utah receivers on every play (Utah reciprocated there). This favored the team with the lead as both teams struggled in the passing game in the second half and there were a lot of punts following pass breakups where the DBs were draped all over the receiver from the opposing team. It was kind of funny to see Utah get a taste of their own medicine on that.

So I chalk this loss up to a more talented Utah team being so full of themselves and having so little respect for their opponent that they were too aggressive early and then lost their composure once they got down.

Also, I think BYU matches up really well against AZ. Their QB is not super fast nor is he super accurate with his passing (there were multiple times Utah left interceptions on the field). So AZ has a solid rushing attack with an opportunistic passing game and BYU tends to match up well against those types of teams. I'm hopeful for that game and if AZ can take care of TT this week they will be ranked when we face off after our bye week.
