attend both the K-State and Baylor games (the K-State game being the first BYU home game I have been to in 8 or so years). The atmosphere at the K-State game was just incredible.

Comparatively, the atmosphere at the Baylor game felt like a library in terms of noise level. The fans barely showed any support. I thought it was funny when the announcer would say "THAT'S ANOTHER BAYLOR..." and then there was a halfhearted mumble from the crowd.

Why is it that BYU fans are so into it?

And why does that not apply to Baylor, which is supposedly in football country?
