In fact it seems that it usually doesn't work. We were up 20 last year at Ok st. Ended up losing. We were up 20 on Utah in 2018. Ended up losing. I don't think byu has gone up 3+ scores on a power 4 quality opponent in the kalani era without blowing it or making it way too close for comfort. In other words, kalani teams have no killer instinct in those games where we get a big lead. We try not to run up the score and take the foot off the gas too early but that always causes the other team to get back into the game
