It’s a very American thing to expect a kid to “go and make your own” once they’re an adult, but I wonder if that changes at all in time as it becomes more unreasonable financially to buy/rent living space as a young adult.

This is already somewhat common in some cultures, but the negative stigma of “living in your parents basement” may never change.
