Arizona got the ball with around 3:50 left and tried to run out the clock to end the game, but Whittingham for darned sure didn't let his defense stop playing just because the game was out-of-reach. Oh no, he called all three of his timeouts on that stalled AZ drive, and then after AZ punted he had his offense keep playing hard and they went down and score a meaningless touchdown with 44 seconds left.

When AZ got the ball back after the late TD, I don't blame their coach at all for giving his kids the green light to throw the ball to score another TD.

But it's exactly like KW to get offended because the other coach let his kids play right up to the end of the game (just like he did) and then use that imagined insult to motivate his team.

Also (and I'm sorry for this): it reeks of irony.
