- In the Utah County money scene (especially tech) it's easier for them achieve social status by donating to basketball over football. You get access to the courstside seats where you can parade your wife around, go back for the VIP halftime meal, etc. Similar to NBA courtside celebrities and fans as compared to the NFL, there's more visibility for basketball donors and more networking.

- KY's NBA ties are obviously huge. But one thinks his connections all throughout Europe is even more impressive and a huge selling point not just for a wide recruiting reach but also for potential professional opportunities down the road.
