Schools shouldn’t be offering money. That’s pay for play. NIL should not be
offered as an incentive to come to a school.
This whole story from Sluka makes it sound like that’s exactly what this was, an incentive to play for the school. UNLV says they provided what they agreed to in scholarships.
The NIL collectives should not be promising anything until after the athlete is at the school. And it seems wrong for coaches to be involved in the NIL offers.
