I have a few thoughts on this…
1. Having a coach who has tons experience in the NBA with strong connections is huge.

2. NIL opens the door for BYU, which has a LOT of wealthy booster who want to see BYU succeed/compete.

3. The Marriott Center is a pretty awesome venue when compared to the majority of college bball arenas. The atmosphere there during big games is elite. Football at LES is pretty good, but it’s nothing like what you find in the SEC or many B1G programs.

4. The honor code is less of an issue for bball players who feel like they have a good chance of getting drafted. Going to a school where you can focus solely on hoops with an NBA-quality coach in an environment that will help keep you out of trouble is a pretty good sell for a dude thinking he may only have 1 year in college. With football, you’re looking at being in school for a minimum of three years typically. A lot harder to commit to that lifestyle if you’re not already living it.

Just a few thoughts on the topic, have a couple more but will stop there. But I think Bball is set up much better than football to succeed in this modern landscape.
