At least BYU built their field to allow more practice/playing time outdoors. That high elevation also carries the ball. There are so many northern schools that lose their field to snow like WVU. WVU seems to manage and they don't have the fancy field that melts snow. Climate is a limiting factor, but it's not the sole thing to blame for BYU's track record.
