I'm not gonna lie, I don't think living in San Diego is exactly a hard sell.
Would 100% rather live there than LA. USC's campus and facilities are nice, but make sure you don't let the recruit wander even one block south of campus or they are gonna start thinking SLC is a nice place to live by comparison.
