Didn’t need to be fired in 2017, because the offense was so bad. And, I’ve learned recently that Ed Lamb has been a big influence on the type of defense they’re playing. We know this because they’re doing the hockey style lineup changes. Kalani has also said he’s involved in the defense, plus he’s in charge of the whole thing anyway.
So the defense is ok, gets slowly worse over time. Beginning in 2018, was there a breaking point where he needed to be fired? That’s debatable, but I say no, not necessarily… until now if course. But let’s say a change was made. Is Kalani going to fire Ed Lamb for giving bad ideas ? Lamb does a lot, a lot of which is going well… so no, maybe not. Does he fire Tuiaki, for doing what he’s told, and for which Kalani is supposedly doing with him? Even if he does fire Tuiaki, is Lamb still a problem? Or not?
Tuiaki apparently said he’d scrub toilets if Kalani asked him to. So apparently he’d also run a weird style defense and do line changes that aren’t working.
So all this being said, the defense failed, and we can see some responsibility going to Lamb, and obviously Kalani as the HC and one involved with the defense. So is this 100% or even mostly on Tuiaki? No. Is Tuiaki doing a good job? Also no.
Am I an apologist for not insisting that it’s all Tuiaki’s fault?
