This doesn't make sense, so I guess you can say if someone hasn't coached they
can't criticize or see when something is wrong, doesn't work, or does work. Or if a player has messed up by being out of position, it's no difference with officiating. Just because someone isn't a professional ref doesn't mean they can't see missed penalties or bogus called penalties, and that doesn't have anything to do with any nuances of "training".

Everyone knows calls are missed every game, especially those that are very close, such as PI, and even some holding calls. In reality there could be a hold called on almost every play, so officials do use discretion with that on most plays. This could be one of the discretion calls on the example he showed for the offensive holding on Wyoming on the TD pass. The Wyoming lineman clearly had his left arm wrapped around Fauatea, impeding a clear path to the QB. This should have been seen by the referee in the position to clearly be looking at that part of the line. It was an obvious hold that wasn't called.

That's kind of an elitist attitude to say since someone hasn't gone to "training" they don't know what they are talking about. What about someone who has watched multiple 1000's of hours of football in their life time, they can't tell what is a penalty or not?

I would also love to have you show us where in the rules it says, it's okay for a lineman to be 3 yards downfield as long as he isn't having an impact on the play. The rule, unless it has changed this year was any ineligible receiver down field who isn't engaged with a defender can be 3 yards off the line of scrimmage, but if they are not engaged with a defender, if any part of the player is beyond 3 yards is a penalty. Now this penalty doesn't get called all of the time, but clearly the Wyoming lineman has half of his body past 3 yards, and is not engaged with any defender at all, so in essence, it is a penalty which in this case the head linesman decided not to call it for whatever reason. And it's not because it didn't have any impact on the play, I have seen many TD's called back that were 10, 20, 30 or more yards beyond the line of scrimmage, and there was a lineman 3-5 yds down field, which had no impact on the results of the play.
