came his way afterward. I was never actually a huge Max Hall fan during his playing time. Obviously I loved the results he got, but I frequently found his antics tiresome.
However, I was irked after his Utah comments, but not because he said anything I thought was objectionable. I thought it was weird that yewts freaked out about it. Were they surprised that he hated them? Was that a secret? What bugged me was exactly what the take says: he made it about him.
Andrew George was an absolutely top-shelf collegiate tight-end. His problem was that he played at BYU at the same time as the greatest collegiate tight-end of all time, still. He was perpetually overshadowed by Pitta, appropriately. But he was a great player in his own rite. Then, he gets the walk-off td with a great catch and run, makes an unbelievable play, and beats Utah in overtime. That moment should have belonged to him the way 2006 belongs to Harline. But Max stole it from him immediately. THAT bugged me. Instead of spouting off about Utah, he should have sat down and said, "Andrew doesn't get enough credit. I'm glad he was the hero tonight. He made it happen for us." and left it at that.
