I don't care about the myth of enviromental impact, I don't care about the cost because I can afford them, I've not had any maintenance issues and am not sure why you think it would be any different than maintenance on a sedan, I can afford insurance, handling is just fine, I'm not driving the autobahn with either of them, and pedestrian safety is a non factor but I'm more safe with the larger vehicle if I get in an accident, in fact I am living proof of that having been t-boned on the freeway by a Loomis armored truck going 75MPH in my full sized Tundra about a year and a half ago and lived to be posting about it today. If I'd been driving a sedan I would be dead.
Really that is just a bunch of stuff people say that are either jealous because they can't afford them or or dupes for the greenie/lefty lobbies talking points.
What it really comes down to is I enjoy both and prefer them over little sedans.
