since everyone is playing under the banner of a ward (a subunit of the Church, led by a prophet), the Lord must want MY team to win, ergo I must do all within my power and frustrated NBA dreams to win to help His will to come true.

That said, God cares about us, and what we care about He cares about. But as you said, "care" does not equal "control" and we certainly don't know why things happen the way they do.

It's awfully presumptuous for anyone to say what God cares or doesn't care about, I only know that He cares about us and wants us to be happy. He also wants us to overcome the natural instinct to overturn and burn cars when our team wins.

He has given us everything we need to find happiness and it's up to us to use what He's given us to find our happiness. If it makes us happy to torment Utes, that's why the internet and Utefans.net was developed!
