BYU-TV does a lot more sports for 1 team than FX apparently does for 2 conferences (Big XII/PAC). So far this year FX has only shown 7 total football games. They don't do replays either.

BYU-TV on the other hand does multiple sports (football/basketball (M/W)/volleyball/baseball/soccer/etc) for BYU - both live and replays. They have a weekly sports show (True Blue), Legends (about great athletes at BYU), pre-game/post-game shows dedicated to BYU for all BYU football games regardless of who has broadcast rights, football half-time show dedicated to BYU when on BYU-TV, etc.
Now if the marketing/info distributed around BYU-TV is sufficient that if your team is playing BYU - you'll know if/when it will be broadcast on there and may even come to realize that "hey - I get that channel - who da thunk it".
FX - 7 football games for 2 conferences so far this year - no clue if they have pre/post game shows. No clue if they have in the past or plan to broadcast other sports.
If I had to decide between the 2 I'd say that BYU-TV is more of a sports channel right now than FX - BUT it is limited to featuring only 1 team and has less overall distribution...
