Better alternatives: trusted family member, friend, colleague, religious leader,
or--in serious cases--an appropriate professional (medical doctor, psychologist, lawyer, accountant, financial planner, etc.) with all the right credentials, an excellent reputation, and who shares your basic values.
People who hold themselves out as "life coaches" are charlatans preying on a vulnerable population. They are either doing things that nobody should charge for, or they are doing things they are unqualified to do.
