If you get in an accident, pulled over, etc, you have video evidence you can show to a court to prove your case.

I hate that new cars have like 15 different cameras on them but hardly any let you use those as a dash cam

I have this relatively cheap dash cam and it works well. I hardwired it to the car to avoid ugly wires. The wiring part
