Okay, let's look at how wrong Kenpom has been start every year for USU the past 6 years with "arbitrary" rank of USU:
He's been getting it wrong every year. This is start rank verses finish:
2019: 168, 38
2020: 68, 41
2021: 94, 61
2022: 68, 28
2023: 101, 51
2024: 71, 47
That initial season rank he puts in drags USU's overall rank down all season until it eventually isn't weighing in by the end of the year.

That's because USU has several close wins, but also because Kenpom arbitrarily ranked usu #71 to start the year.
