the dog. It’s about the only thing that brings her joy at this point. In fairness she has suffered with a lot of mental illness in her life and not having kids at home has left her bored and feeling purposeless. The dog does give her the feeling that someone or somebody needs her.

Which is why I would be and was fine with having her bring the dog. But she seems to have lost all perspective as to what others think about or need.
