I have three siblings that have dogs and bring them to my parents almost every
time we get together as a family. We were not a dog family growing up and its pretty clear that my mom and dad do not like the dogs in their home. To my understanding they actually spoke to my siblings about it but don't want to make a big deal about it and offend anyone.

My siblings and their spouses are awesome but its astonishing how clueless they are on this issue. Lately they have been doing better keeping them in portable kennels when they come but there is still inevitably decent swaths of time where they put them on a leash in the kitchen (so everyone avoids that spot) or let them loose to run around. They have put dog food and water out that that toddlers inevitably play in etc.

The look on my parents faces when one of the dogs threw up on the kitchen floor 6 months back was scary. They are gems by the way. Dog people honestly just lose their ability to understand others perspective on the situation. Generally speaking dog people are way more like smokers than they would think they are.
