Most oil places can't even tell you what oil they're putting in, much less the
filters they're using.

Even if you go to a reputable mechanic/dealer, they generally assign them to either some minimum wage high school dropout or the kid still in high school working part time given that they've cut the labor rate on an oil change in order to compete with the shady oil change places.

Given that knowledge plus actually enjoying working on cars, I DIY.
