It’s $10/month, so I am contributing the best way I can from far away.
I would say the stories we hear about what CougConnect does are mostly are like this:
Dude’s mom gets hospitalized back home all of a sudden. CougConnect helps him get home to be there for her. That player then writes an insider look at game prep or post game locker room stuff to “earn” the NIL. In the end, I care more about the former than the latter.
Guy is moving and needs a hand, CougConnect helps out. Car breaks down, CC helps get it fixed. The players get help for the little stuff; they come do a live Q&A with the Discord group.
Occasionally, you get other tidbits, nothing amazingly juicy or overt, and usually names are omitted for obvious reasons: otherwise internet jockeys are gonna start posting news that wasn’t theirs to share.
It sounds like with Gentry, thanks to increased subscribers, maybe CougConnect was able to do more. I look forward to hearing more about it, if we can.
But I’m sure there’s a lot of rules about what can be shared and what can’t. But for $10/month, I’m helping where I can in the “NIL” space.
Join or don’t. You probably aren’t going to see $120 worth of “return” on your annual investment, but it’s a fun way to connect with BYU fans and help the players and occasionally get looped in to what the eyeballs mean on X and CB before the news actually hits.
