I think that’s overstated. UGA was #3 on Nov 5 and #12 a week later (the same
week we were #6).
Indiana was unranked to start the season and moved up to #5.
ASU was unranked until Nov 21 and ended up #12.
Last year, UGA went from #1 to #6 in one week and tOSU went from #2 to #6 and both missed the CFP.
The impact from preseason rankings might not be zero, but it’s pretty close to zero.
