It’s just the software has vulnerabilities, and most routers do.
At least according to a news video someone posted earlier.
Chinese bad actors are exploiting them, but it’s probably just bad code writing vs China planned to spy with them.
More of a way to punish China by banning TP.

TP-Link Deco routers have some of the best reviews in mesh routers and Costco carries them
