Subbed today for Meals on Wheels and met a great BYU fan
He’s in rough circumstances. His wife died recently, and he has had a stroke, so is somewhat bedridden and somewhat limited arm and hand ability. His house, garage and yard are filled with BYU banners, schedules, and other memorabilia.

I did a little extra, helping him getting ready to eat, like peeling and cutting up the orange, getting a bendy straw for his milk and a spoon for his food, then told him he looked like a big BYU fan. His eyes lit up and he said yep over 50 years. Had season tickets on the 50 yard line.

We spent about 15 more minutes just talking about all that was happening with BYU sports, but primarily football and basketball. It was obvious that in spite of his immobility he was keeping in touch with all of BYU’s events and well able to understand and talk about it.

Many of us may end up being in this good man’s circumstances at some point or another. For me, I hope if I do that it’s short, and that I have the grace and patience that this man displayed. Go Cougs and Coug fans.
