There are a number of spots to see and a rental car gives the most flexibility to see everything on your timeframe. For example, we loved Point du Hoc and absorbing its significance and stayed there a bit. Guided group tours are too structured and rigid on time. We walked around the cemetery for a few hours too. Walked along the beaches and went to two museums. Normandy requires an entire day or even two days and that is only seeing the war locations.
