This. I feel like many CBers link their fandom of a favorite NBA team (e.g Jazz)
to their overall feeling about the NBA. So, many here seem to remember the ‘90s as the glory days of the NBA (which really means the glory days of the Utah Jazz), and think the NBA has declined since then (as the Jazz have declined), especially in the last few years (in which the Jazz have started to suck).

Also maybe correlated to politics in the era of Trump. A group of religious older & middle-aged men, most of them suburban & rural American white guys from the intermountain West, tends to have issues with the political and social views of a league made up of urban 20- and 30-something-year-olds, mainly African-Americans and Europeans. Not exactly shocking.
