...great, some could be improved on. It's a constant cycle of refinement, especially more-so recently. ...there are also 7+ more analysts.
Look at Tuiaki, look at Funk... They clearly needed to be replaced based on a track record of poor performance by their respective player groups. As for Steve Clark, I hear both sides that he was great and that he needed to be replaced. But you can't deny that even if Clark was good, that a TE coach with many year of NFL experience is an upgrade.
I cant really see any gaps in defensive coaching currently, but our offense has not been great for a few years. This causes people to talk and want better. Especially when many of the offensive coaches are carryovers from independence. It is clearly the weakest coaching group today and should be looked at.
In short, a healthy fan base should want to constantly improve and not settle. I think it's normal to dissect issues and discuss... it bring challenges to the forefront and eventually makes it's ways to coaching. As fans, we directly and indirectly fund everything about the team. We should have a say.
Retzlaff is in a similar situation, made a drastic improvement this year, however, that improvement took him from a non-starter to a starter, but there are still a lot of things he needs to improve on. And the best way to really push people to improve, is to bring in legitimate competition that will push both to be better. BYU needs to bring in a legitimate QB1 competitor this offseason.
