How does this work?
There were warnings, I think people assumed the sea walls would protect them.
And the tsunami was just WAY bigger than what they were expecting or than anything that had been seen for 100 years.
And yes, those videos are absolutely heartbreaking (and the power of the water is almost unbelievable).

I don’t think the one in the Indian Ocean was viewed live as much, but the one in Japan was seen on news live.
