Maybe for you this is the case. When I am in office it is non-stop interruptions
Kids are in school and wife leaves me alone for hours. This is the case for 95% of my team.

In the office I am in a small cubical surrounded by 30 other people all having conversations and needing input. Massively distracting. And I spend most of my day sitting in Zoom meetings anyway when I am in office. Management feels particularly special feelings about all of us sitting in conference rooms together in person while on Zoom meetings.

In our case, there are real estate reasons for pushing in office work. Completely not necessary since most of our clients are full remote anyway. But the office space is leased from the son of a man who knows some people and it would be a real shame if that man decided that our federal funding needed to be cut wouldn't it....
