One, giving SEC and Big10 4 guaranteed games is silly. Maybe they deserve this this year, or next or the following. But to write that in stone just means you will end up with deserving teams left out and undeserving teams invited in.
Also, what value does the CCG have in this scenario for the 2 teams participating? A chance for bragging rights, maybe. But if you're already in the playoff, why risk injury for a game that no longer means anything.
The CFP needs to be defined as the 12 most deserving teams, not the 12 "best" teams. Earn your way in with some specific criteria. Conference champions (decided however each conference wants) + a G5 rep, but the next most deserving 7 teams get in as well.
And guess what, Alabama, you might be one of the 12 "best" teams and would beat the majority of teams in a given game, but if you fell asleep at the wheel against Vanderbilt or Oklahoma, you are no longer one of the most deserving teams and don't get to kick out a team that didn't have a blunder.
Can you imagine if the NFL simply said, "hey, the Patriots, Steelers, 49rs and Cowboys have won the most Super Bowls, they get into the playoff every year regardless of whether they lost to the Jets, Browns or Jaguars". It would be ridiculous. The same applies to College Football, and the more they tweak the system to ensure a group of haves and have nots, the more they risk the disenfranchisement of fans that will eventually just say, "I'm out". If my team doesn't have a chance, I'm much more interested in the best football (NFL) than in a wanna-be pro league that I don't have a real relationship with.
