did they hire consultants to come in and make the company as bad as possible? Every mistake they could make, they made. Every fix they needed to do was outside the power of anyone that we talked to. It seriously felt like someone solved an optimization problem to guarantee that no one that a customer can contact ever had the power to help with any issue.
But yes, UHC costs a lot and never seems to help. I would love to live in a world where there was price transparency and you pay for everything yourself and you only call your insurer if you get cancer.
I blame a lot of people for this state of affairs, especially the government and providers, but also insurers and patients. I also have hated UHC for as long as I have had the misfortune to interact with them in any way.
(Do I have to mention my opposition to murder? UHC is a crummy company and that is a large scale issue. Murder is evil, but also I don't have to come out against it every time it happens. I've been against murder all along.)
